The time has come… Some would say the tipping point of forestry in the Northwestern United States came years ago. Now we are here to say that we agree but not in the way that it has been used as a political statement. As such it is time for a free and open source alternative to the current forest management system used by a majority of the acres in the Northwest United States. While the ultimate goal of the Natural Biometrician is to create the SIRM model that will take several years to start from the ground up and the need is here now!
What does this mean? Simple. As time allows this site will post recreations of portions of models based on how they are advertised to work. These tools will be rigorously tested and accurate!! Bugs will be rapidly addressed and the code behind it will be free and open.
Everyone has waited long enough. Some of the initial reactions were not favorable, so that has slowed momentum somewhat. But in the end, progress needs to be shown. Besides the main point is that the interface can be updated and changed darn near on the fly. Let’s take a more in-depth look.
